Repurpose One Idea Into Five Pieces of Content

By Avoraway · 2026-09-20

Creating content often feels like a treadmill: a new idea for each post, each video, each newsletter. There is a gentler way. Take one solid idea and present it in several forms. Not because you are copying yourself, but because different people prefer to read, watch, or skim.

Nothing here promises an audience or income. Repurposing simply saves effort and makes your ideas easier to find.

Pick a single "core idea"

Choose something you already know well and can explain in one sentence. For example: "A weekly ten-minute review keeps side projects moving." Good core ideas are specific, useful, and drawn from your real experience.

Write the idea, three supporting points, and one example from your own life or work. That is your source material.

The five-piece map

From that source, create:

  1. A short article or newsletter. The fullest version. Write around 500 to 700 words with a clear headline and one action step.
  2. A short video or audio script. Pick the single most useful point and explain it in under a minute. You can show your face or use text and voiceover.
  3. A list post. Turn your three points into a numbered list that can be read in twenty seconds.
  4. A question post. Ask your audience how they handle the problem. It invites replies and gives you ideas for next time.
  5. A checklist or template. Convert the action step into something people can save and reuse.

You do not need all five every time. Start with two or three and see what fits your style.

How AI can help, and where it should not

AI tools can be helpful for the mechanical parts:

A prompt you can adapt:

Role: editor. Task: turn the article below into a 45-second spoken script. Context: friendly, plain language, no hype, one clear takeaway. Output: script under 120 words. Do not add claims that are not in the article.

Then edit the result in your own voice. Check that nothing was added that is not true. Do not use AI to invent results, testimonials, or expert credentials. If you did not test it, do not say you did.

Adapt, do not just copy and paste

Each platform has a different rhythm. A paragraph that reads well in an article may feel flat on video. Rewrite the hook for each format. Lead with the most interesting part, not the background.

Also keep a consistent way to name and store your pieces. A simple spreadsheet works: idea, date, format, where posted, and what people asked. The last column is a treasure. Questions from your audience become your next ideas.

Spread it out

Posting all five pieces on one day can feel repetitive. Spread them across a week or two. This also gives you time to notice which format people respond to. Judge by real signals such as replies, saves, and questions, and be careful about reading too much into a small number.

Respect other people's work

Repurposing your own ideas is fine. Do not copy other creators' work, and be careful with music, images, and quotes. Check licenses and give credit where it is due.
